Recently, I had the pleasure of working with a group of talented actors from Siena Heights University who were involved in a one-act play called "Forgotten in the Fairytale." We had a lot of fun and captured some memorable shots.
I started out photographing the dress rehearsal on stage. The atmosphere was amazing, with the actors giving their all in their performances. As I snapped away, I was captivated by the passion and dedication of the actors as they brought the story to life. The colorful costumes, well thought out sets, and dynamic lighting created visual magic for my lens, and I was able to capture the essence of the play in my photos.
After rehearsal, the director chose to take the actors out on location for some promotional shots of the cast and individual scenes from the show. We ventured to a some nearby trees which provided a forest looking backdrop for our group photos and a couple of individual characters. The actors were full of energy and enthusiasm, striking poses and interacting with each other to create memorable group shots.
I took individual photos of the actors capturing their own unique characters in the play. I wanted to capture their personalities and emotions in the portraits. It was so fun, as always, to work with each of them. They are so talented, and I love capturing their genuine expressions. From serious and intense to playful and lighthearted, the actors' individual photos truly reflected the depth and personality of their characters.
One of the highlights of the photo session was the opportunity to capture individual scenes from the play on location. We recreated a few moments from the play in different settings, such as simulating the dense forest, creating a courtroom look and the principal’s office for a parent meeting and the cemetery for the Little Match girl’s grave. The actors fully embraced their characters and delivered!
Throughout the quick session, I was impressed by the professionalism and creativity of these actors from Siena Heights University and the director of the show. They were not only skilled actors but also enthusiastic collaborators. It is evident that they are passionate about their craft and committed to creating something special.
It was an honor to be a part of the creative process and to capture the hard work and dedication of the actors and director. The show will be run this Friday, April 21, 2020, beginning at 7:30pm at the Lab Theatre in the Spencer Performing Arts building at Siena Heights University, along with several other student directed One Acts! Come out and support these talented actors and student directors, you won’t be disappointed!
